Westfield’s Sept. 11 Memorial Restored

WESTFIELD, NJ — A new panel was installed on Westfield’s Sept. 11 memorial July 26 to replace the panel shattered by vandals this winter.

“After several months of verifying the updated names and placement on the panel, it was fabricated by Permanent Reflections and installed by Cutting Edge Glass. Both are the same firms which worked on the original Westfield 9/11 memorial in 2002,” said Sherry Cronin, executive director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation and member of the September 11 Memorial Park committee.

“It also provided an opportunity to refurbish the other three panels. Now the memorial appears as it did the day it was unveiled, with the exception of some of the names having changed from the 9/11 database,” she said.

Donations totalling $250 helped cover the cost of the restoration.

Located at the corner of East Broad Street and North Avenue, Westfield’s September 11 Memorial Park was dedicated on Sept. 21, 2002, and commemorates the lives of all victims of the 2001 Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
