WESTFIELD, NJ — A restaurant named after famed cartoonist and town native Charles Addams will run the beer garden at an upcoming festival in that same cartoonist’s honor.

The Town Council on Tuesday awarded a bid for Addams Tavern to run the beer garden at the upcoming AddamsFest celebration for a second year. The beer garden is set for Oct. 26, and 30% of the proceeds from the beer garden will go to the municipality, the resolution stipulates.

For last year’s AddamsFest, the inaugural year of the festival, patrons quickly snapped up tickets to the AddamsFest beer garden, which was held indoors at the National Guard Armory due to rain.

Organizers have said this year more tickets will be made available to those wishing to imbibe as the Armory did not fill to capacity throughout the entire evening as expected during the first year of the event.

Barring rain, as happened last year, there will also be an outdoor component to the beer garden, the officials said.

The council’s award of the beer garden bid was one among a series of measures on a busy agenda for the Town Council Tuesday.
