The second annual Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Westfield class kicked off with its first hands-on field trip to The Bounce Factory in Warren, NJ. The Bounce Factory was created by owner Anthony D’Amato of Westfield, NJ.
The Bounce Factory was chosen as our “cool” field trip to help students understand the real possibility of a business that is both profitable and fun.
A former retail bond salesman, Mr. D’Amato emphasized to the kids the importance of customer service. He said that, in his opinion, the experience of his customers must be the best for his business to maintain its tremendous success. He pointed out that, as hard as you try, you cannot always do things right. But it is how you handle these situations, being upfront with your customers, admitting to mistakes and doing whatever it takes to correct them is what makes you stand out in a competitive business.
YEA! is a groundbreaking program that teaches students from all walks of life how to make a job, not just take a job. In addition to lessons inside the classroom, YEA! introduces students to all types of areas of business through field trips, guest lectures, introducing them to business mentors and community leaders.
By engaging in this hands-on approach to learning, students are able to identify with what it takes to operate an entertainment business such as The Bounce Factory and how this applies to starting their own business. It is trips like this that make YEA! the unique experience that it is, and takes experiential learning to a whole new level.
