Westfield Police Blotter: Counterfeit $100 Bills, Man Arrested in Car Burglary & More

May 8, 2018 2:23 p.m.

A business in the 200 block of East Broad Street reported receiving payment for services with a counterfeit $100 bill. The suspect made a small purchase with the counterfeit bill and received change, depriving the business of $94.24 change and $5.26 purchase. Suspect described as a black male 25-40 years of age, with facial hair wearing a black Nike wind breaker jacket and jeans.

A business in the 100 block of Central Avenue reported receiving payment for services with a counterfeit $100 bill. The suspect made a small purchase with the counterfeit bill and received change, depriving the business of the $95.73 change and the $4.27 purchase. Suspect described as a black male 25-40 years of age, facial hair, wearing a black Nike wind breaker jacket and sneakers.

A resident of Sunset Avenue states that actor gained entry to their vehicle and removed numerous items.

A resident from Carol Road reports being the victim of a theft. Actor gained entry to the victim’s motor vehicle and removed numerous items.

A resident from Wychview Drive reports being the victim of a theft. Actors gained entry to the victim’s vehicle and removed numerous items.

A resident of Sunset Avenue reports being the victim of a theft. Actors gained entry to the victim’s vehicle and removed numerous items.

A resident from Wychview Drive reports being the victim of a theft. Actors gained entry to the victim’s motor vehicle and removed numerous items from the vehicle.

A resident from Wychview Drive reports being the victim of a theft. Actors gained entry to the victim’s motor vehicle and removed numerous items.

Tony Speranza, age 33, of Garwood, NJ was arrested for obstructing administration of law, burglary to the motor vehicle and theft. Suspect was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released on summonses.

 

May 8, 2018 10:04 p.m.

Kristen Hoyte, age 31, of Brooklyn, NY was arrested for shoplifting from a business located in the 200 block of W. South Avenue. Subject was transported to police headquarters and processed and released on summonses.

 

May 8, 2018 10:59 a.m.

Keith Reeder, age 52, of Westfield, NJ was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle accident. Subject was processed and released on summonses.

 

May 14, 2018 1:44 a.m.

Officers Weiss and Forcenito arrested Abraham Arre, age 22, of Newark, NJ on two outstanding traffic warrants (Westfield/$500 and Union Township/$500) totaling $1,000 pursuant to a prisoner pick up at Wayne Police Department. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and held in lieu of posted bail.

 

May 15, 2018 10:30 a.m.

Troy White, 47, of Newark, NJ was placed under arrest by Westfield Police Officers while at Essex County Jail. White was arrested on the strength of an outstanding Westfield Municipal court warrant and had bail in the amount of $1,000. White was transported to WPD HQ without incident and processed. White was then placed in a cell awaiting an appearance in court.

 

May 15, 2018 12:22 p.m.

Tyana Lewis, 21, of Plainfield, NJ was arrested in the area of Forrest Avenue. Lewis was arrested for possession under 50 grams and drug paraphernalia. This arrest was subsequent to a police investigation. Lewis was transported to WPD HQ where she was processed. Lewis was released on summonses with a court date in June.

 

May 11, 2018 5:30 p.m.

Brian M. Dunn, age 44, of Scotch Plains, NJ was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a crash investigation at W. North Avenue and E. Broad Street. Subject was unable to be processed at the time due to his injuries.

 

May 14, 2018 10:49 p.m.

Officers Martinez and O’Holla arrested Carey M. Peterson, age 26, of South Plainfield, NJ for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle crash investigation in the area of E. Dudley Avenue. Subject was transported to HQ, processed and released to a sober adult.
