1/3/2021 at 8:45 a.m. — Fraud
A resident from the 70 block of Sandy Hill Road indicated being the victim of fraud. Resident attempted to purchase a puppy online and made a down payment to hold the dog. When she attempted to pick up the dog from seller in Morristown it was unavailable.
1/3/2021 at 11:36 a.m. — Criminal Mischief
A resident of Central Ave reported a criminal mischief to their property. The resident stated that unknown actor(s) caused damage by cutting strands of lighting on the exterior of their property. The victim stated the cost of the damage was $60. The time frame for the damage is approximately one week.
1/3/2021 at 4:11 p.m. — Theft
A resident of the 600 block of Salter Place reports being the victim of a possible theft that occurred at his residence sometime between June 2020 and August 2020. Victim states that numerous pieces of jewelry and cash were missing from his residence. The approximate value of the possible stolen items was $660.
1/3/2021 at 9:24 p.m. — Warrant Arrest
Officers Carrero and Fourre arrested William Rivas, 45 of Elizabeth, for outstanding warrants from Passaic County (No Bail) and Elizabeth ($100) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of East Broad Street. Rivas was transported to headquarters for processing and later released ROR.
1/4/2021 at 9:22 a.m. — Fraud, Identity Theft
A resident of the 1100 block of West South Ave reported that they were a victim of fraud and identity theft. The victim reports that her an account with a banking institution was compromised. The victim reported several fraudulent charges occurred on this account. The victim stated that they have not suffered any monetary loss to date, but that the charges were not authorized. The victim stated that her social security number may have also been compromised.
1/5/2021 at 5:45 a.m. — Theft
A resident of the 1000 block of Prospect St reported the theft of signs from the front of their property. The estimated value of the sign is $15, thus the cost of the theft is $30. There are no suspects at this time.
1/6/2021 at 9:37 a.m. — Identity Theft
A resident of the 700 block of Embree Crescent reported being a victim of an Identity Theft. The victim stated they have not suffered any monetary loss. The victim stated that an unknown actor(s) made to fraudulent unemployment applications using his identity. Recently unknown actor(s) have opened a banking account utilizing his identity. There are no suspects at this time.
1/6/2021 at 5:09 p.m. — Shoplifting
A store employee of a business located in the 200 block of E. North Ave. reported a shoplifting, which occurred on 1/06/20 at 17:09 hours. The suspect stole merchandise worth $300.93 and fled the scene. The area was searched for a suspect, which produced negative results.
1/6/2021 at 11:50 p.m. — DUI
Officers Carrero and Shaughnessy arrested Matus Palej, 40 of Parlin, for Driving While Intoxicated in the area of 200 block Central Ave, Clark Township pursuant to a motor vehicle violation which occurred in Westfield. Palej was transported to headquarters for processing and later released to a sober adult.
1/8/2021 at 9:29 a.m. — Possession of False Document NJDL
Alimamy Turay, 48, of Irvington was placed under arrest subsequent to a motor vehicle stop for possession of a fraudulent document specifically, a NJ driver’s license which he used to identify himself to officers. This was subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Turay was released on a summons with a court date at the Union County Superior court.
