The following is the Westfield Police blotter for Oct. 11 – 17. The information provided does not represent the total scope of police activity. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
10/11/2020 at 9:57 a.m. — Shoplifting
Officers responded to CVS on West South Avenue on a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop, officers F. Moya, Ofc. T. Donovan and D. Perkins arrested Daniel Santiago, 30, of Roselle Park. Santiago was subsequently charged with shoplifting $377.26 worth of merchandise from CVS and was issued a summons and released from police headquarters pending a Westfield Municipal Court date.
10/15/2020 at 7:31 a.m. — Motor vehicle burglary
A resident of the 900 block of Summit Ave. reported they were a victim of a burglary to their vehicle. The victim reports that unknown person (s) entered their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. The victim’s vehicle was apparently unlocked at the time of the incident. The victims reported that no items were stolen from their vehicle.
10/15/2020 at 9:03 a.m. — Motor vehicle burglary
A resident of the 800 block of Tice Place reported being the victim of a burglary to their vehicles as well as being a victim to a theft. The resident reported that both of their vehicles were entered by unknown person (s) while they were parked in their driveway. The victim reported that $2 in United States currency was stolen from one of the vehicles. It is apparent that both vehicles were unlocked at the time of the burglary.
10/15/2020 at 7:32 a.m. — Motor vehicle burglary
A resident of the 900 block of Tice reports being a victim of a burglary to their motor vehicle as well as a theft from the vehicle. The resident reports that unknown actor(s) entered their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. The actor(s) they stole $2 in U.S. currency as well as a garage door opener valued at $25. The vehicle was apparently unlocked at the time of the theft.
10/15/2020 at 7:14 p.m. — DUI
Officers Popleik and Bagan arrested Julio Gonzalezosorio, 34, of West Orange, for driving while intoxicated pursuant to an investigation regarding a motor vehicle crash. Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released to a sober adult.
