The leaders and members of First Congregational Church of Westfield invite all to observe Holy Week with them during special virtual services for Maundy Thursday (April 1), Good Friday (April 2) and Easter Sunday (April 4). All services will be streamed on Facebook Live.
Maundy (Holy) Thursday will be observed on April 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a candlelight service recalling the Last Supper and Jesus’ final hours through scripture, hymns, Dramatic Reflection and Communion.
A Good Friday service of Meditation and Reflection will be held on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast from the church’s Patton Auditorium.
A virtual Easter Sunday worship celebration will be held on April 4 at 10 a.m. The service will feature music for organ and brass quartet, including Widor’s “Toccata,” hymns and duet musical presentation, as well as a look back at the Chancel Choir’s performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from a performance before the current health crisis began. The community’s Interim Minister, Rev. Joel Biggers, will deliver the morning’s Message, with a time of prayer led by Associate Minister Joy Mounts, and virtual sharing of communion.
Following the livestream service, the community is welcome to gather outside on the front lawn for a brief service of readings, brass quartet presentation, and in-person communion. All attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing. All are welcome at 11:30 a.m.
