’Tis the season to cajole your family to wear matching outfits, bribe the kiddos with candy canes and chocolates, and somehow balance reindeer antler onto your pet’s head. What to do for your holiday photos this year? Why not take advantage of all of the great outdoor backdrops in our quaint towns and parks? Local businesses and townships also have some photo ops scheduled that will get the job done in style. Here are some ideas to get you going.

  • Dixiedale Christmas Tree Farm, Chatham, opens Friday, Nov. 24th… or just bring your camera when you go to buy your tree. More good options to keep in mind are the Westfield Area Y’s Men’s Club Christmas Tree Sale on Elm Street, Williams Nursery, 524 Springfield Ave. in Westfield, or Dreyer’s Farms, 831 Springfield Avenue in Cranford.

  • Lord and Taylor photos with Santa, 609 North Avenue in Westfield — On Nov. 24 to 26, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.. If you bring two cans of non-perishable food for the Holy Trinity Westfield Food Pantry, you will receive a free 5x7 photo from www.meccography.com (nominal shipping fee will apply).

  • Live Nativity at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield on Sunday, Dec. 3, starting at 1 pm.

  • Scotch Plains Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony — Augustine Park, Village Green on December 3 from 1 to 5 p.m.

  • Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming, 218 E. Broad Street in Westfield is doing pet photos with Santa on Dec. 3 starting at noon.

  • Cherrybrook — Santa giving out pet treats on Dec. 9, from 11 am to 3 pm.
