Are you staying near home for the holiday week? We asked our Keller Williams local experts to name their favorite spots to visit in our towns in the summertime. Here are some of our top picks:

“Not only in the summertime, but all year round, my favorite place to go in downtown Westfield is Ono Bowls on Quimby Street. It's a juice house servicing raw, pure, healthy, superfood juices, smoothies, acai, pitaya and ono bowls. I always enjoy the delicious an nutritious ono bowls (my personal favorite: the Ginger Wild) and leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Treat yourself.  Take a break from your hectic day.  The calming atmosphere makes it feel like a mini-vacation!  You'll be glad you did.” — Laura Brockway, RealtorⓇ / Sales Associate

“Thursday Nights at Mindowaskin Park sitting around the gazebo and listening to the sounds of Westfield Community Band Concert Series after enjoying dinner and dessert at one of the many fine restaurants  in town. A beautiful setting with a fountain in the center of the lake, lush green foliage and flowering plants. A true mainstay of Westfield. According to the History of the Town, four Native American Indians of the Lenni-Lenape tribe of the Algonquin Nation lived here and in 1684 became Westfield. One of those Native Americans was named Mindowaskin, and the park is named after him.” — Susan Massa, RealtorⓇ / Broker Associate

“A feature I enjoy tremendously in Westfield is the alfresco dining during the warm weather months. I love the atmosphere that it provides in the town while enjoying the local restaurants. At 16 Prospect, Chris and Tim Boyle provide an inviting gathering space in a great location to enjoy live music nightly, seasonal dishes with their own signature stamp, and incredible martini menu with fresh juice. My food favorites are Garden Pizza, Bistro Burger and anything seafood!” — Susan Devaney, RealtorⓇ / Sales Associate

Downtown Fanwood is such an adorable little town and has many great eateries from breakfast to dinner and dessert in between. One stands out in particular, Mara's Café. It is a community hub for great food, coffee, artisan gelato, live music every Thursday in the summer and an award-winning bakery. It's owned by Inroads to Opportunities, a community rehabilitation center that provides employment and mental health services to adults with disabilities. Mara's Fanwood is making food for good.” — Jenifer DiVirgilio, RealtorⓇ / Sales Associate

“Fun events near Historic Fanwood Train Station & La Grande Park! Numerous summer joint events with local businesses including Tuesday's family free movie night, and an upcoming exciting event Sunday July 9, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with live music and a classic car show!” — Maureen Illanovsky, RealtorⓇ / Sales Associate

Ponderosa Farm Park in Scotch Plains, located at 1600 Cooper Road. This sprinkler park and playground is the perfect place to cool the kids down on a hot day. And of course, it's free! Even without the spray fountains, the playground equipment is plentiful and really fun all year long. This 23-acre park also includes walking trails, playing fields, a picnic area, restrooms and a good sized parking lot. Fun fact: Before the property was purchased by the county, Ponderosa Farm was the largest remaining farm in Union County.” — Brigid Robertshaw & Marisa O’Brien, The Sold Sisters, RealtorⓇ / Sales Associates

Change The Early Morning Timing on Central Ave. Traffic Light

July 12, 2018

In connection with asking Union County to review the signal timing, PLEASE also consider the timing early in the morning. I frequently am heading south on Central to Metropark Station to catch the 6 a.m. train. Whenever I am at the intersection prior to 5:30 a.m., the timing is such that a green light (going south) lasts for less than the amount of time it takes to get one car through the ...

What Is Your Bottom Line?

This week's Parshah (Torah reading) is the Parshah of Pinchas the Zealot: the courageous young priest who stood up against idolatry and immorality and, in the end, saved Israel from a devastating plague.

While Pinchas' radical response made him a hero worthy of having a Torah section named after him, we wouldn't necessarily suggest to our children ...

Commencement Collapse

July 1, 2018

Along with hundreds of parents in Westfield, my sons just graduated from high school (congratulations all!). It’s a funny thing being on the inside, being one of the moms who’s actually got kids in the flowy gowns. It’s a completely different vantage point than the one I’m used to; on many graduations past, I’ve felt deep joy while driving on Grove and seeing the ...
