Free Concert in Mindowaskin Park

The Westfield Community Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Connors, continues its Thursday evening Summer Concert Series on July 11 with a concert program featuring vocalist Karen Hauge. 

 Hauge, a member of the band’s flute section for three years, will perform Selections from “Old American Songs,” composed by Aaron Copland, and Someone to Watch over Me by George Gershwin.

 Hauge is a music educator with the Westfield Public Schools.

The band will also perform several classic marches, including Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite March, by Karl King, and American’s We, by Henry Fillmore.

Completing the program will be performances of Sea Songs, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Irish Tune from County Derry and Shepherd’s Hey, by Percy Grainger, The Wizard of Oz, by Harold Arlen, and selections from the Broadway musical, Oklahoma!, by renowned composer, Richard Rogers.

The band’s Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Westfield Recreation Department, Don Bogardus, Director. Chairs and blankets are recommended. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the Westfield Community Room, located in the Westfield Municipal Building.
