CANCELED: Spring Awakening Sound Meditation

Release the weight of winter by participating in a Spring Awakening Sound Meditation at the Westfield Area YMCA, located at 220 Clark St, on Sunday, March 29 from 4 – 5:30 pm. Participate in asana and rejuvenating sound meditation created by Tibetan singing. Leading the session will be certified Sound Healing and Meditation guide, Brenda Castano.

Sound Bowl Meditation is a calming practice that helps you connect with a sense of profound peace. It is also known to help balance chakra energy, improve sleep quality, alleviate stress and anxiety and increase productivity. Singing bowls are frequently used during yoga practice to enhance the connection to asanas or meditation by synchronizing brainwaves to breath and movement flow to reduce physical and emotional tension.

Yoga mats will be provided. No prior experience is necessary for this gentle practice. Dress should be comfortable.  Advance registration is strongly encouraged. Register online at westfieldynj.org or in person at the Welcome Center. A contribution of $25 will benefit the Y’s Annual Support Campaign which ensures that no one who is experiencing a bona fide financial hardship and lives or works in Westfield, Cranford, Garwood or Mountainside is turned away for inability to pay for Y programs or memberships.  The majority of awards enable participation in the Y’s early learning; school age and summer day camp programs. For more information, contact Jean White, Health and Wellness Director, at 908-233-2700 x246.

The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Visit westfieldynj.org to learn more about Westfield Area Y programs.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
