Kids’ activities include Gomez’s Dynamite Model Railway, the Addams Family Fun Zone and Halloween festivities.

All of the Wednesdays and Pugsleys may be too young for an evening at Charlie’s Ale Garden or a screening of "Rocky Horror" — but not for the AddamsFest family-focused activities lined up for later this month!

Westfield Town Hall Community Room

425 East Broad Street

New this year! Celebrate Gomez’s well-known love of model trains — minus the explosions, of course.

Take in the exhibits from both The Model Railroad Club of Union County and the Gersten family, whose small scale model railroad layout was built to represent major Westfield landmarks, past and present. This immersive experience — which will also include a display of historical memorabilia and a photo exhibit — is a can’t-miss event for train lovers of all ages!

Tickets are available on the AddamsFest website on a first-come, first-served basis, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Space is limited, and advance reservations are recommended. Tickets at the door will only be made available as space permits.

Sunday, Oct. 20, 11 a.m. -  5 p.m.

Quimby Street

Downtown Westfield

(Rain date: Oct. 26)

Head over to Quimby Street in Downtown Westfield, which will be closed to traffic for a day of family fun — including Addams Family character visits, street performers, activities with local merchants and more. Costumes are encouraged for kids and parents alike!

For the special needs community, the day will begin with Quiet on Quimby from 11 a.m. - noon, during which time a sensory-friendly environment and activities will be provided by the Union County Office for Persons with Disabilities & Special Needs before the musical performances get underway.

Beginning at noon, local musicians take the stage — including bands from Valencia School of Music, School of Rock, Workshop for the Arts and Songs for Seeds. Booths will include an array of local businesses, such as A&R Workshop, Indigo Art Studio, Kilwins, Little Nest Portraits, Woofgang Bakery, Westfield Education Association and Just Bead Yourself.

Don't miss the return of the incomparable Maniac Pumpkin Carvers — creating stunning and unique custom pumpkin carvings that have been featured on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" and displayed at MoMA and Yankee Stadium. Bump into our other street performers, stop by the DJ booth with kids' games and music and prepare for some surprises along the way!

At 4 p.m., the Howl-o-Ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest gets underway. For those who’ve always thought their loving mutts would look great in a mohawk or those whose petulant pedigree prefers a tiara, this is the time to let imaginations run wild! For full details, rules, and registration information, visit the contest page.

The Optimist Club of Westfield’s Annual Halloween Parade

The Downtown Westfield Corporation Costume Contest

Pugsley’s Trunk-or-Treat

Sunday, Oct. 27, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Foundation Park and the South Avenue Train Station

The fun begins as participants line up in Foundation Park for The Optimist Club of Westfield’s Annual Halloween Parade, which concludes in the South Avenue train station lot with the Downtown Westfield Corporation’s Halloween Costume Contest. The Westfield High School Marching Band and a DJ will be in attendance to entertain the crowd.

It wouldn’t be Halloween without candy, and this year promises to be sweeter than ever with the return of Pugsley's Trunk-or-Treat!  Once again, attendees will trick-or-treat from the trunks of decorated cars in the South Avenue train station lot, bringing together everything kids love about Halloween — whimsical and spooky decorations, candy, music, prizes and much more. Participation is limited to children under 12 years of age and their families, and candy will be distributed only while supplies last. There will also be allergy-friendly treats available.

Participating cars are invited to bring their candy and creativity to take part in the fun. Candy supplements will be provided by the event, courtesy of Hershey — with help from Shovlin Mattress, JAG ONE Physical Therapy, and Oceans Orthodontics. Advance registration is required for all decorated cars to participate, and prizes will be awarded for Best Decorated, Best Group Theme, Best High School Student Car and Spookiest Car.
