WESTFIELD, NJ — They got their hands sticky and soon will be rewarded for their efforts.

The town on Sunday announced the winners of its second annual gingerbread house building competition. There are winners in four categories, according to the announcement posted to social media.

“Outstanding job,” contest organizer Councilwoman Dawn Mackey told TAPinto Westfield. “Wonderful to see our residents share their talents and bring joy to the community.”

The public can still see some of the contest winners on display in shops around the downtown. The winners were decided on by online voting.

The winners are as follows, according to the town.

  • Grand Prize Winner: Iconic Westfield Shopping by Anastasia Harrison on display at Savory Spice Shop, 138 East Broad St.
  • Iconic Westfield Winner: Arcanum Hall by Tara and Robert Donnelly and Amy Behr-Shields on display at N & C Jewelers, 102 Quimby St.
  • Family Effort Winner: Whoville by Mackenzie Wilson, Emily Rego, Hannah Everett and Natalie DuHaime on display at Ono Bowls, 107 Quimby St.
  • Kids Only Winner: Lincoln School Playground by Donna Corea’s PM pre-Kindergarten Class at Lincoln School on display at Ono Bowls, 107 Quimby St.

The contest initiated in 2018 has been an effort to draw the public into the downtown. Prizes will be distributed at the Jan. 14 Town Council meeting, the town’s announcement said.
