WESTFIELD, NJ — Due to predicted rain on Sunday, town Halloween activities planned for that afternoon, Oct. 27, will be moved from the train station parking lot to indoors at the Westfield Armory, the town announced Friday.
The annual Optimists Club parade has been canceled, but trick or treating and a costume contest will go on from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., according to the town.
“Here at Team AddamsFest, we’ve never met a weather challenge we couldn't handle! With an Addams-y 100% chance of steady rain for Sunday, we've done some regrouping to keep the festivities intact,” the town’s AddamsFest website says.
Instead of car trunks, registered trunk-or-treat volunteers will display their decorations on tables throughout the Armory, where candy will be distributed courtesy of Hershey, the site says.
The Optimist Club/Downtown Westfield Corporation Costume Contest will proceed by having the contest judges circulating the venue during trick-or-treating to select the winners, the site says.
Entertainment will be provided by the Westfield High School Marching Band and a DJ.
If you go:
The Westfield Armory is located at 500 Rahway Ave. Drivers should park at the Westfield High School parking lot. No parking will be permitted at the Armory, except for guests with disabilities. Enter via the front ramp of Armory, on the Rahway Avenue side.
Due to limited capacity, there may be some outdoor waiting periods under tents.
