WESTFIELD, NJ — Social distancing hasn’t stopped the community from coming together to beautify the outdoors — at least at a distance from each other.

The Westfield Recreation Department is encouraging people to take part in a “Chalk the Walk” event this weekend.

“We invite you to draw inspiring art or write encouraging messages on your driveway or sidewalk with chalk,” the department posted on its Facebook page. “Then head outside — drive around or take a walk — and look for the prints and messages!”
