WESTFIELD, NJ — With the power of her voice and guitar, 16-year-old Yasmeen Habayeb will spread the joy of helping others at her benefit concert this Saturday.
The event to raise money for Imagine, a Center for Coping with Loss will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Crossroads, a music venue at 78 North Ave. in Garwood.
Imagine, a local non-profit organization provides free grief support all around the year. The center supports anyone ranging from children to adults in dealing with the death or severe illness of a loved one.
“I really like how Imagine offers support to people of all ages, where there are support groups by age group,” Hayabeb said. “I’ve never really seen anything like that, where it’s a coping center for all families.”
Habayeb is a teen facilitator at Imagine and works with young children at the center.
“I wanted to show my passion and talent for singing and performing, and I’ve been wanting to raise money and awareness for Imagine because they have a really great organization,” she said. “So, I thought: why not do something that’s fun for me while raising money for an organization that I really enjoy working at?”
A $20 donation is suggested at the door, made by either cash or check.
Those that are unable to make the event but still wish to support the cause are encouraged to visit www.imaginenj.org to donate and write “Yassie’s Jam for Imagine” in the comment section.
