WESTFIELD, NJ — The department store Lord & Taylor will reopen for limited hours this month following its closure due to COVID-19, its website says.

The “Special Hours” are as follows, according to Lord & Taylor’s website: noon — 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 15 – 21.

In May, Reuters reported that the chain of 38 stores would be liquidating its locations following their closure due to COVID-19. This is in anticipation of closing the stores, the report said.

Emails to the press office for Le Tote, the operator of Lord & Taylor, were not returned this week. An email to the press office for Hudson's Bay Company, the store chain's former owner, was also not returned. Lord & Taylor's press office also did not return an email seeking comment.

While the online fashion retailer Le Tote had purchased Lord & Taylor’s stores last year, the land on which the store in Westfield sits remains owned by Hudson’s Bay Company.

The town is designating that location on North Avenue along with two nearby parking lots owned by Hudson's Bay Company for potential redevelopment.
