The center is collecting toys for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Union County during its free Holiday Hackathon events.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Code Ninjas, a coding center for kids, is celebrating Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), a national annual initiative to inspire kids to take interest in computer science. Throughout the week, Code Ninjas Westfield will host Hour of Code sessions leading up to a final Holiday Hackathon, where kids can explore coding and win prizes for their creativity while collecting toys for Boys and Girls Club of Union County.

Code Ninjas Westfield will host Hour of Code activities on Dec. 9, 11 and 13, where kids will be introduced to coding or advance the skills they already have. To round out CSEdWeek, the center will also host a free Holiday Hackathon event on Dec. 15, where kids team-up to participate in a friendly competition using Scratch for a chance to win prizes. Winners will be selected by Code Senseis™ (instructors) at the end of the event and rewarded with fun prizes like STEM and Coding Kits. The top team will be voted on by Code Ninjas HQ at the national level for a chance to win awesome grand prizes including UBTech robots and 3D printers.

This year, Code Ninjas Westfield will introduce three new Hour of Code sessions to cover all skill ranges in the following programming languages: Scratch, JavaScript and C#.

Code Ninjas Westfield is encouraging families to give back to their community in the spirit of the holidays by donating toys to Boys and Girls Clubs of Union County in during the Holiday Hackathon events.
