WESTFIELD, NJ — Four Westfield High School athletes have signed on to play at Division 1 schools setting up for a college level rivalry with a local connection.
- Hank Shapiro will play at Lehigh University
- Declan McCauley will play at Holy Cross
- Will Kessler will play at Georgetown University
- Griffin Rooney will play Lafayette College
“We’re very excited for all four,” said head football coach Jim DeSarno. “Will and Declan will be reuniting with their brothers. That’s great for them and their families. They are all in the same conference, so they will now be playing against each other [with] Hank and Griffin in one of the best rivalries in all of college football.”
School officials previously announced three other football players are set to play at schools in the Patriot League.
“Next year we will have seven Patriot League players with Mike Moriarty at Lafayette, Jack McCauley at Holy Cross and Owen Kessler at Georgetown,” DeSarno said.
