WESTFIELD, NJ — The student newspaper for Westfield High School, the Hi’s Eye, has earned a gold medal for 2018-19 from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the school district announced Monday.

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association provided an in-depth critique of hundreds of student newspapers from across the United States and awarded gold, silver and bronze medals based on a numeric score.

Key among the accomplishments of the Hi’s Eye staff in the 2018-19 academic year was the publication of a memorial edition remembering the late Westfield High School Principal, Dr. Derrick Nelson.
