As part of a three-year strategic plan, the Westfield Memorial Library has begun to survey library users to help chart the library’s future. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
Everyone who completes the survey automatically has a chance to win an iPad mini.
The survey seeks to learn such information as how frequently cardholders and non-cardholders use the library, what services they use, and how they would like to see the library improve or upgrade. The surveys will also attempt to glean the best methods of communicating with users.
Consulting group Library Development Solutions will analyze the survey results and incorporate their findings into the library’s strategic plan.
Led by founding partner Leslie Burger, Library Development Solutions has helped hundreds of libraries in the tri-state area plan for their future since 1991. Ms. Burger is the former director of the Princeton Public Library and was President of the American Library from July 2006 – June 2007.
Over the past month the library has held several focus groups, also facilitated by Library Development Solutions. Community leaders, a group aged 55+ years, the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library, staff members and teens were quizzed about their ideas for the library’s future and areas of improvement. Information from the focus groups will be incorporated into the strategic plan as well.
Founded in 1879, the Westfield Memorial Library—the community’s destination for discovery and ideas—engages minds, entertains spirits and facilitates lifelong learning for people of all ages. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
