WESTFIELD, NJ — If you haven’t had the Bloody Mary Oysters at 16 Prospect Wine Bar & Bistro, you could be missing out.
So says one of the state’s top food critics.
16 Prospect co-owner Tim Boyle told TAPinto Westfield the oysters on the half shell are prepared with tomato juice, celery, salt, Worcester sauce, hot sauce and Bloody Mary drink mix frozen on a sheet pan.
“We scrape that ice, we put it on the oysters, and then they get vodka on top,” Boyle said Friday.
The preparation, however, wouldn’t happen without the raw goods: the fine oysters Boyle buys from Westfield Seafood.
“I worked for Vince Bruns, who runs Westfield Seafood, for many years, and it’s absolutely the best source for seafood around here,” Boyle said.
