WESTFIELD, NJ — After more than two years at 39 Elm Street downtown, Amuse is saying “goodbye” to Westfield. Its award-winning chef ,C.J. Reycraft, Jr, is not.
The French brasserie will close its doors after Saturday, July 9, and reopen in about a month with a new name and new concept, according to Reycraft. He’s not yet saying what will be on the menu.
“All I can say is that I am really excited about it and cannot wait to share it with the Westfield community. There's nothing else like it in town and I have a feeling people are going to respond very well to the new concept,” Reycraft said. “We will have our grand opening sometime in early August. There is a possibility we will open the doors sooner for a soft opening in the coming weeks.”
Amuse, which has been featured in The New York Times, isn’t going away for good, either. Reycraft is scoping out a new location for that restaurant somewhere in New Jersey where liquor licenses are less expensive and easier to come by.
“The extra revenue stream would help offset the rising costs of labor and ingredients,” he explained. “Our wonderful staff will remain the same in the Westfield location. Once we decide on the new location for Amuse, we will evaluate and move our staff accordingly.”
Outstanding Amuse gift cards will be honored at the new restaurants.
