I am writing today in support of Rob Benacchio for First Ward Council. I was previously a member of the Westfield Republican Committee but am now registered as an Independent voter with friends and family on both sides of the aisle. Having been involved with many Committees and having been elected to many private Board seats and offices I have had the wealth of much experience with various components of what has made Westfield be the Town we all love and support. The community leaders I have had the good fortune to work with and learn from has been an amazing journey. I am so grateful for all I have learned. I have always voted my conscience and this election will be no different. Having already cast my ballot by mail, due to upcoming obligations, I am comfortable being public with my choices.
I have had the unique opportunity of previously (and currently) working on committees with both First Ward candidates. There is no denying that both are nice people. My choice is made when it comes down to actually getting something done and having an active level of involvement. Rob has consistently shown up, ready to work, always with an open mind and always having done his homework. The adage of “If you want something done, ask a busy person” comes to mind when I think of Rob. For a long while we would be at volunteer opportunities and, in talking, realized we had similar goals regarding our mutual desire to help Westfield be the best it can be.
Rob, in addition to being an attorney, is also a long time Westfield Board of Adjustment member as well as a very active coach for several of his children’s sports teams. I have been impressed with his work ethic, his legal knowledge and his willingness to roll up his sleeves to get things done. He has a great perspective on life and is always giving back to our community. I have found him to be reliable, transparent, conscientious and good counsel. Genuine is the word that I think of when describing him to others. Rob’s ability to find quick, logical solutions for current day issues is impressive. I have watched him always speak his conscience, be accountable and never just go along with the crowd. An independent thinker, he listens but does not judge — a great quality needed in leadership.
I look forward to Rob bringing his years of experience and wealth of knowledge of Town of Westfield matters to our Town Council when he is elected. I have confidence that he will serve and represent us well in the First Ward and the whole of Westfield.
