On Tuesday, November 5th we will vote for our Town Council Members. My choice for Third Ward is Mark LoGrippo. As a Westfield resident for 34 years, I’m impressed by how Mark has made a difference in our Town, and I’m grateful for the kindness he’s shown towards my family.
Mark knows his constituents well. When my son Ed made Eagle Scout, Mark was there to open the ceremony. Later, he helped us understand the nomination process for the federal service academies. Now Ed is a proud graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy!
When Mark began serving as Town Councilman eight years ago, pedestrian safety — especially for children — was one of my biggest concerns. Mark served as Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee and has put in the hard work over the years to make our roads safer.
Mark is very accessible to Third Ward residents and always responds quickly. After Superstorm Sandy he organized volunteers to keep us informed and distribute information door-to-door in our Ward.
As former Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, Mark helped the Town earn its AAA rating from Standard & Poor’s, which allows Westfield to make capital improvements at greatly reduced cost. He is also currently Vice Chair of Code Review and Town Property.
Mark is the Town Council liaison to the Tree Preservation Committee, which balances protection of our trees with ongoing development in Town. Mark’s attention to environmental issues doesn’t stop there. He was formerly at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as a Government Representative for the State’s Clean Energy Program.
An active member of the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition, Mark worked to eliminate the change at Newark on off-peak trains -- something long-term residents said could never be done! He is now working for direct service during rush hours.
It’s no secret Westfield is a desirable town. Mark LoGrippo is working hard to make it even better. That’s why he’s assured of my vote on November 5th.
