WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Memorial Pool is preparing to open for the Summer 2021 season, potentially with similar coronavirus precautions implemented during the last pool season.

“We're very proud of the way we were able to operate the pool last year even during the COVID season we had to operate,” said Aquatic Supervisor Heather Re during Monday night’s Recreation Department meeting. “But we were very happy with it and it was a very safe season. We feel that we can open again, even if it means we have to open the same way we had to open last year.”

The pool took unprecedented precautions last season because of the pandemic, with the pool closing every two hours for a half-hour to sanitize facilities, as well as occupancy limits and timed slots to attend.
