Members of the Rake and Hoe Garden Club of Westfield made 50 mini floral arrangements to accompany the Mobile Meals delivered on Sept. 18. The club has performed this service twice a year in the Spring and the Fall for almost 50 years.
Club members usually get together to make the floral arrangements, but this year, due to concerns about COVID-9 each member made three to five arrangements at home using pre-assembled kits and plant material from their own gardens. Each kit contained a plastic detergent bottle-top (to hold the arrangement), floral foam, directions for the size of the arrangement and the delivery deadline.
These colorful small arrangements are much appreciated by the clients who look forward to receiving them. One recipient told the club that she placed the arrangement on her kitchen window sill and when she saw the arrangement every day it brought her happiness and made her realize that she was not alone and that others think of her and care.
