One Hospitalized in Westfield Crash, Hazmat Responds

WESTFIELD, NJ – A 57-year-old man was hospitalized following a two-car crash that prompted a response from the county’s hazmat unit and left a car into a utility pole Thursday morning, authorities said.

Paving Closes Westfield Roads on Friday

WESTFIELD, NJ — South Chestnut Street at East Broad Street to Benson Place, and Benson Place at South Chestnut to Salter Place will be closed to all traffic on Friday for paving, the Westfield Police Department advised via Nixle.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The following roads are closed during the day Thursday for paving:

Fairacres Avenue between Wells Street and Benson Place, and South Chestnut Street between East Broad Street and Lenox Avenue.

At 6 p.m., the Route 28 traffic circle will be closed in the westbound direction, which will impact the latter part of Thursday's rush hour.

Tree Branch Falls on Lamberts Mill Road in Westfield Wednesday Night, Taking Down Wires

WESTFIELD, NJ — A large tree branch fell on Lamberts Mill Road near New England Drive Wednesday night, taking down wires with it, according to Acting Westfield Police Chief Chris Battiloro.

No injuries were reported, he said. Westfield Police, with the assistance of Scotch Plains Police, were securing the area.

Westfield Police Announce Road Construction on South Chestnut Street, Benson Place

WESTFIELD, NJ — South Chestnut Street between East Broad Street and Archbold Place
and Benson Place between South Chestnut Street and Saint Marks Avenue have uneven pavement and raised manholes Wednesday night in preparation for paving Thursday, the Westfield Police Department advised via Nixle.

Paving on Grove Street in Westfield Postponed Due to Rain

WESTFIELD, NJ — Due to rain, Grove Street is not being paved Monday as originally scheduled, according to a Nixle alert sent by the Westfield Police Department.
