WESTFIELD, NJ — Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze that lit up the engine compartment of a car on East Broad Street and Hampton Court Friday morning.

Firefighters received the call at 8:54 a.m. and hosed down the vehicle’s smoldering engine, Battalion Chief Michael Duelks said.

“Nobody was injured,” Duelks said. “Everybody was fine. It was a quick knock down.”

The black four-door sedan with New York license plates was towed from the scene by 9:40 a.m.
