WESTFIELD, NJ — Detectives are investigating after reports that a symbol including the number “3” was spray painted on at least four homes in the town in recent days.

Residents of two houses in the 200 block of Seneca Place discovered the symbol spray painted on their homes, and an additional resident in the 700 block of Central Avenue reported a residence defaced with the symbol, Sgt. Michael Walsh said Tuesday.

Authorities also discovered a home on First Street had been spray painted, Walsh said. Homeowners reported three of the incidents to police on Sunday and the fourth on Monday, he said.

Police have yet to determine specifically when the homes were defaced, but the two residents on Seneca Place told police they did not see the graffiti on Saturday night, Walsh said.
