WESTFIELD, NJ — Prospect Street was closed for a short time near East Broad Street Friday morning due to smoke emanating from electrical lines underneath the street, a spokeswoman for the town said.

Authorities reopened the street by 11:30 a.m., according to the spokeswoman, Kim Forde.

“The Westfield Fire Department responded to the scene, and subsequently reached out to PSE&G for their assistance in resolving the issue,” Forde said. “There were no injuries and no damage to any buildings.”
