WESTFIELD, NJ — Two young men attempting to steal a vehicle on Hawthorne Drive fled after the homeowner scared them away Friday morning, police said.

The vehicle burglary and attempted vehicle theft happened around 10:45 a.m., police said. The vehicles, which were parked in the driveway, were unlocked, police said.

Police did not return an email or phone call seeking a more detailed description of the suspects Friday afternoon.
