WESTFIELD, NJ — Trick-or-treaters who are still on the street might want to call it a night pretty soon — at least if they want to keep their treats dry.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 1 a.m. for Union County and surrounding areas, the National Weather Service said at 8:16 p.m. Thursday.

Showers are likely before 1 a.m. with a thunderstorm possible from 1 a.m. — 4 a.m. and again a chance of showers after 4 a.m., the Weather Service said.
