WESTFIELD, NJ – With a deep chill setting in, the outdoor portion of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day March has been called off, but services planned for the observance will still be held, police said.

The Westfield Police Department announced the cancellation of the outdoor march shortly after 10 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service in a statement Monday warned wind chill readings as low as 14 degrees below zero possible throughout the morning.

“Make sure to bundle up and wear a hat and gloves if you go outdoors,” the Weather Service message said.
