WESTFIELD, NJ — A 35-year-old woman hit by a car Thursday was transported to the hospital for a potential back injury, police said.
The driver hit her while she was in the crosswalk at the intersection of North Avenue West and Elm Street, Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said Friday.
Authorities transported the woman to University Medical Center in Newark, Battiloro said. The crash occurred at 8:36 a.m., he said. Police anticipated issuing a summons to the driver.
“The investigation is ongoing and complaints are pending,” Battiloro said. The police reports were still being finalized as of Friday afternoon, he said.
