WESTFIELD, NJ — Tuesday morning’s commute could be a slippery one.

Up to 2 inches of snow and ice is anticipated to accumulate between 9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said in a winter weather advisory issued at 12:23 p.m. Monday. The advisory applies to parts of Union County and surrounding areas.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the Weather Service statement said. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.”

Westfield Snow Rules

  • Local regulations require that property owners remove snow from sidewalks abutting their properties within 24 hours after snow have ceased falling.
  • Throwing snow into the street is prohibited. The police department may issue a summons for such violation.
  • Whenever there is more than 3 inches of snow accumulated, parking is prohibited on the street, the regulations dictate.
