WESTFIELD, NJ — Some homes are without power following a report of downed power lines that caught fire shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, police said. 

As of 11:15 p.m., 500 customers remain without power, according to PSE&G’s outage map. The utility estimated power would be restored by 4 a.m.

In a Nixle alert at 10:35 p.m., police warned of the downed wires that had caught fire in the area of 900 Kimball Ave.
