WESTFIELD, NJ — A 22-year-old Plainfield resident who grew up in Westfield has died.
Thomas Declan Dazzo died suddenly at his home in Plainfield last Tuesday, his obituary said. Dazzo had worked in maintenance at the Barker Lounge in Cranford, a doggie daycare center, the obituary said. He was remembered for his sense of humor.
“His friends would often talk about how Thomas was very tough on the exterior but a big softie inside who just wanted everyone to be happy,” family said in the obituary. “He accomplished that through his many jokes and stories he would tell.”
Services were held for Dazzo at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield Saturday, the obituary said.
Dazzo graduated from Westfield High School in 2015. He had been steered to work at the Barker Lounge after receiving a dachshund for his eighth birthday, the obituary said. The dog is now 14 years old.
Dazzo wrestled for a brief time, played rugby for the Union County Mud Turtles and enjoyed fishing, the obituary said. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery on Broad Street in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the nonprofit Angel Paws, http://www.angelpaws.org, in Dazzo’s name, the obituary said.
