FANWOOD, NJ — It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Fanwood now that Greg Roser has thrown the switch to illuminate “Fanwood's Famous Christmas House” on Friday. The house is is located at 83 Paterson Road. 

Roser undertakes the annual fundraising effort for the NJ Institute for Disabilities as memorial to Rosemary “Rosie” Merced, a former co-worker who died from cancer earlier this year. As always, the grand lighting occurred on the day after Thanksgiving at dusk. Donations were already coming in before the display was lit.

Donations are being accepted several ways:

  1. There is a secure lock box next to the front door at 83 Paterson Rd Fanwood. Checks to “NJID” or cash can be deposited there.
  2. Checks made to “NJID” can be mailed to 83 Paterson Road.
  3. You can go to and donate through the secure website/Paypal. Right before you click on the final “Donate Now,” there is a Notes section. Type “ROSER,” and your donation will be credited to this fundraising campaign.

Roser started compiling his light show setup after Labor Day, including 10,000 or so lights on the trees, shrubs and bushes. After Halloween, he started to install the lawn displays.

Santa will visit the Christmas House on Dec. 5, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
