I started playing basketball in the third grade. My dad signed me up for SOAC and I immediately fell in love with the sport.

What is your favorite thing about being on the Lakeland basketball team?
My favorite part about being on the Lakeland basketball team is the camaraderie. Everyone gets along so well all the time. This goes such a long way on any team and luckily our team just naturally has an amazing connection.

What is your favorite team activity or pregame or postgame ritual that you share with your teammates? What about a personal pregame or postgame ritual?
My favorite pregame ritual is definitely getting together with the team before we run out to warm-ups. We all huddle together and just get so hyped which really sets the tone for the whole game.

Do you have any goals for your final season playing for Lakeland?
My goal for my final season of basketball is to always have fun and leave everything I have on the court win or lose.

Who has been your biggest role model over the years and what have you learned from them?
My biggest role models over the years are 100 percent my parents. They both work so hard to give my siblings and I everything we could imagine. My mom has taught me that hard work goes such a long way. My dad taught me how to play basketball, and he also taught me to always show respect and sportsmanship. Lifting up players after they fall to the floor regardless of the team shows a lot about a players’ character. A little respect goes a long way.

Tell us one thing about yourself that not a lot of people know?
I take a 10-minute shower every single morning. I feel like it’s a perfect way to start the day, and it always wakes me up.

Do you plan on continuing playing basketball in college?
I definitely plan on playing club basketball in college, but not serious college basketball.

Tell us about where you are going to school and why you chose it?
I’m not sure where I’m going to college yet.

Do you know what you want to study in college? If yes, what are you planning on studying and why?
I plan on studying early childhood education. I love helping people and working with kids seems so fun and entertaining.

Who is your favorite professional athlete?
My favorite professional athlete is James Harden. I admire his ambition and the leadership he has on the court.

What is your favorite music to listen to warming up for a game?
I always listen to my favorite pregame playlist which has a bunch of different styles of music on it.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
My superpower would be precognition. Being able to see into the future seems so cool and very helpful.

If you could pick one place to visit on vacation that you’ve never been to, where would you go and why?
The one place I would visit is definitely Ireland. It seems so beautiful and interesting.

What is your favorite food to eat before or after a game?
The best place to eat after a basketball game is Bob BBQs. The food is so good and it just always hits the spot after a game.

Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Why?
I’ve recently been intoTwitter. There is always something going on.

For a young athlete growing up in the Lakeland district, what would you tell them about the experience of being part of the basketball team and why should they go out for the team?
Being a part of the Lakeland basketball team has taught me so much more than just basketball. Some things I’ve learned are leadership, friendship, and dedication.
Those three qualities go so far past the basketball court. I wouldn’t trade the experiences I’ve had for the world. Shout out Lady Hornets!
