MAHOPAC, N.Y. - A record field of 114 golfers played in the ninth annual Good Friday Golf Outing at Putnam County Golf Course.

The yearly reunion of classmates and varsity teammates, joined by local luminaries, was started by Yorktown High alumnus Ryan Froats and friends in 2011, when a total of eight players teed it up. In 2016, Ryan and friends welcomed the Harrison Apar Field of Dreams Foundation (named for their classmate who passed in 2003) as the official charity of the fast-growing fundraiser.

Thanks to their generosity, the foundation has raised nearly $20,000 since joining forces with the Good Friday Golf Outing. Proceeds benefit recreation and education through the foundation, which enjoys longtime community partnerships with Yorktown Athletic Club, Yorktown Police Benevolent Association, Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Yorktown Schools, Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, and other groups.
