YORKTOWN, N.Y.-Lauren McAulay may be in just her first year as head coach for the Yorktown girls lacrosse squad but experience wise she is a veteran of the game.
McAulay spent the last three seasons as Yorktown’s assistant coach to Hudson Valley Lacrosse Hall of Fame member Ellen Mager and learned a lot.
“Ellen exuded confidence and determination both on and off the field, which is something I have always admired,” McAulay said. “Her quick thinking and ability to analyze each strategic play, while keeping in mind the strengths of each player really speak to her success as a coach. She took the time to take me under her wing and provide me with significant knowledge and resources to help me to develop my own coaching style. I am confident that with the skills Ellen helped me to refine, combined with my previous experience and passion for lacrosse, I am ready to take over this program.”
McAulay has both a long and short-term vision for the program.
