MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. – A family-fun day of fishing derbies, boat races, hiking, live music, international dancers and more will return to Mohegan Lake on Saturday, July 13.

The annual Lake Day celebration, with a rain date of July 14, is free and open to the public with several events running throughout the day at various beaches dotting the lake. The event is sponsored by the Mohegan Lake Improvement District, a volunteer group that maintains the lake’s environment and preserves its history.

“Throughout the year, we actively work hard to maintain the health of our lake so everyone can enjoy it, especially on Lake Day,” said Ken Belfer, president of Mohegan Lake Improvement District.

A “Water Taxi” will be available to shuttle people between beaches from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. As you go from beach to beach, you can pick up a “passport” and stamp it to show you’ve been at that beach. A drawing from among the cards with the most stamps will be done at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Colony Beach.
