SHRUB OAK, N.Y.-Lakeland/Panas’ ice hockey squad came up big Jan. 18 when it defeated visiting Nyack/Tappan Zee 4-1 in a League D matchup at the Brewster Ice Arena.

Leading the Rebels to victory was their sniper, Brett Hanson, who scored all four goals, including the first of the game, to put Lakeland/Panas on top in the opening period. Joseph Jimenez and Thomas Percacciolo assisted in the goal.

Hanson, with an assist from Joe Orza, followed that up with his second goal of the period, extending the Rebels’ lead to 2-0.

Hanson continued to stay on fire in the second period, as he recorded his third goal with the assist coming from Jimenez.

Nyack/Tappan Zee cut the Rebels’ lead to 3-1 with a goal of its own in the final period but Hanson scored, courtesy of assists from Paige Sullivan and P.J. Kowal, with just 57 seconds left in the game to seal the victory.
