JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y. - Dorothea LaScala has been named the grand marshal of the 2017 Yorktown Feast of San Gennaro.
Event organizer Tom Pomposello made the announcement during last night's Circolo da Vinci scholarship award dinner at Ceola Manor in Jefferson Valley. He made the announcement shortly after his organization donated $1,000 to Circolo da Vinci.
Since 1999, LaScala has been a member of Circolo da Vinci, a non-profit organization that promotes Italian-American heritage. She served several terms as president of the organization, which hands out thousands of dollars in scholarships each year to local students.
Prior to joining the club, LaScala owned and operated a bridal shop business in Jefferson Valley for 25 years. LaScala has also been active politically, with her church, and with the Girl Scouts.
The Feast of San Gennaro will return for its third year on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and run until Sunday, Sept. 17. Learn more about the feast here.
