SHRUB OAK, N.Y. – Yorktown resident Chris Berlow celebrated the grand opening of United Martial Arts Center in Shrub Oak on Saturday, April 22. The ribbon cutting was followed by an open house.

Berlow, a sixth-degree black belt in taekwondo and former national competitor, recently returned from Africa, where he spent about a week climbing Mount Kilimanjaro while raising nearly $18,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world.

He is a 1988 Yorktown High School graduate and owner of another United Martial Arts Center in Briarcliff. Elected officials presented proclamations to Berlow and his son, Tim, who will manage the martial arts studio.

The martial arts center is located at 1414 East Main St. in Shrub Oak. Visit umacshruboak.com or call 914-743-1683.
