I have received dozens of calls and messages to my office regarding bill No. A2260.
Let me be clear. I am 100 percent opposed to A2260. This proposed legislation further penalizes all law-abiding gun owners in New York State. As if the so called “SAFE” Act wasn’t bad enough, now members of the NYC-controlled Assembly majority are pushing for new ways to target law-abiding gun owners.
A2260 would require all gun owners to purchase and maintain $250,000 worth of liability insurance. This equates to a new tax on New Yorkers who practice their constitutionally protected right to bear arms. Make no mistake, this is part of a broader scheme to make gun ownership so expensive that it prices ordinary citizens out of the market or out of our state.
I am adamantly opposed to this legislation and will continue to fight for the rights of ALL New Yorkers, including the rights of law-abiding gun owners!
