YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The new Chase Bank branch at 1975 Commerce St. is open for business.
The 4,632-square-foot bank, which replaced the Chinese restaurant, Empire Hunan, received approval in August 2016 from the planning board. Three months later, Chase purchased the property for $3.2 million from the restaurant's owners, according to a deed agreement filed with the county clerk's office.
The opening of this larger branch, which includes a drive-thru ATM, spells the end for the two other nearby branches, both less than a half-mile away at 2002 Commerce St. and 2035 Crompond Road. The Crompond Road branch has already closed and the Commerce Street branch will close at noon on Thursday, July 27, according to a sign posted at the building.
The Crompond Road building will be filled by Verizon, according to landlord Ed Falkenberg. He said Verizon has already signed a lease and should open in three to four months.
