SHRUB OAK, N.Y. - Nicolas De La Pava, owner of WiseGuys barbershop in Shrub Oak, died on Aug. 7, in a motorcycle accident in Danbury, Conn. He was 23.

De La Pava was born in Tarrytown on June 6, 1995, to parents Mario De La Pava and Luz Myriam De La Pava. He attended Bedford Hills Elementary School and then Fox Lane High School, where he was a varsity football player. Upon graduating Fox Lane, he attended the SUNY Cortland, where he was a member of the football team. He graduated from Cortland in May 2017 with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in business development with a minor in sports management. After graduation, Nick followed his drive and love of entrepreneurship to start his first business, WiseGuys barbershop, in Shrub Oak.

De La Pava's family said his “relentless energy, contagious spirit and bright smile touched everyone he encountered. To say he will be missed by all is an understatement. Nick is survived by his mother, Myriam, and countless family and friends. In passing, Nick’s generosity continues, evidenced by his registration as an organ donor. Nick, you are Mom’s diamond, her champion and now her hero. We will miss you and love you forever.”
