YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Bad news: The COVID-19 pandemic forced Support Connection to cancel its in-person Support-a-Walk, held every October at FDR Park.
Good news: Support Connection pivoted to a virtual walk, allowing thousands of walkers to participate from their communities around the country on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The 26-year-old Support-a-Walk, which typically draws thousands to FDR Park, is the largest fundraiser for the Yorktown-based charity, which provides support and resources to people diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancers. While most supporters walked in their own neighborhoods or communities, a small gathering and ribbon cutting was held at FDR Park.
Donations can still be made at supportconnection.org.
